Course facilitators

Albert Tsindi

Crop Scientist

Albert Tsindi is a crop scientist who specializes in plant breeding. He has more than 10 years of working experience in agricultural production, training, capacity development, and research. He worked as a research assistant for the National Soybean Breeding Programme and was a lecturer at Mutare Polytechnic in the Department of Horticulture where he taught genetics and plant breeding, horticulture, floriculture, and plant protection. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Plant Breeding with the West Africa Center for Crop Improvement, (WACCI), University of Ghana. He holds an MSc in Crop Science (Genetics and Plant Breeding) from Makerere University, Uganda, an MSc in Strategic Management from the Chinhoyi University of Technology, and a BSc in Agriculture (Crop Science) from the University of Zimbabwe. His focus is to be a leading breeder able to nurture, train and mentor the next generation of African plant breeders and brings to the A-TEAM a passion and vast experience in leadership training, team building, mentoring, and curriculum development.

Pamela Marinda


Dr. Pamela Marinda is a lecturer in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Zambia. Her areas of specialization include agricultural economics and nutrition. She has designed and delivered several innovative training programs for NGOs, research, and academic institutions across Africa. Prior to joining the university, she served as the East Africa Programme Officer for the Scientific Information for Agricultural Education in Africa project, a collaborative initiative between A. Mann Library at Cornell University and ITOCA (Information Training and Outreach Centre for Africa). Dr. Marinda holds a Doctorate in Agricultural Economics and a Master’s in Agricultural Sciences, Food Security, and Natural Resource Management, both from the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany. With over 16 years of experience in the management of small and medium-size projects in agriculture, plus core competencies in leadership, program implementation, and communication, she facilitates the science skills courses for AWARD.

Monica Kapiriri

Facilitator and Consultant

Ms. Monica Kapipiri is a facilitator and consultant with over 20 years of experience in training, program support, gender integration, monitoring, and evaluation. She has worked with both local and international NGOs, research, and government agencies including the EU, FARA, CARE International, RUFORUM, USAID, and the World Bank. Ms. Kapipiri holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Natural Resource Management from Makerere Institute for Environment and Natural Resource Management, and a BSc in Forestry from the Faculty of Forestry, Makerere University. She also holds certificates in leadership and team management; negotiation skills; mainstreaming gender in policy and development program formulation. She has published a number of books including Sleeping Giant: Unleashing Africa’s Potential and Breaking the Shackles of Poverty. She has also written and presented several conference papers for RUFORUM, CGIAR, and FARA. Monica has been part of several AWARD course designs and brings to the A-TEAM several years of experience as an accomplished leadership trainer in management and mainstreaming gender policy, mentoring and coaching, and monitoring and evaluation.

Albert Njuho

Associate Professor of Statistics

Professor Peter Njuho is an Associate Professor of Statistics at the University of South Africa (UNISA) in South Africa. As a specialist in the design and analysis of surveys and experimental designs, his wealth of experience in statistical modeling, scientific data management, design, and analysis of complex survey data, continues to be highly sought after by national agricultural research systems, academic and private institutions. He has consulted for the Rockefeller Foundation, Ford Foundation, World Bank, TSBF Institute, the Institute for Commercial Forestry Research amongst many others. He continues to serve as a member of the VLIR-UOS Selection Commission, Africa region, which is involved in the evaluation of research proposals. He also serves as an editorial board member of the African Crop Science journal and is a reviewer of various other journals. Prof. Njuho holds a PhD in Statistics from Kansas State University and an MSc in Statistics from North Carolina State University in the USA. He is credited with over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and several conference presentations. Prof. Njuho facilitates the research proposal and scientific writing courses for AWARD.

Anne Marie Nyamu

Communications Consultant

Ms. Anne Marie Nyamu is a professional communications consultant. Her key competencies include scientific editing and writing, publishing, and training in scientific communication. She has worked in various capacities for both international and regional agricultural research institutes, for over 25 years, offering communications consultancy services, in addition to developing training modules for the courses she is involved in. She holds a Master’s degree in Hydrobiology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education (majoring in Zoology with a minor in Botany). As an avid communicator, Ms. Nyamu brings to the A-TEAM a refined perception into scientific writing and communication, production and editing of manuscripts, research reports and journals, and website coordination and development.
Anne Marie
